The Monetary Disparity

I deliver unto you exhibit D in the case of Suspect, The Deeply Disturbed And Highly Twisted Mislead Youth.

I was walking back from our GLORIOUS chow hall with a friend, you may recall him as being the one who was showered with cinderblocks in the Exploding Roof Debacle. He said that he should've gotten a job with KBR instead of the army. This opened the conversation window to our pay versus everyone else's.

Oh yes, we mentioned the journalists, the construction workers, the awesome lady at our movie theater. And then I brought up entertainers.

Y'know the type. Actors, performance artists *cough, bile dribble*, professional athletes. All paid to do things they loved and to be worshipped, and paid but GOOD. So I figure, if we aren't going to be paid as lavishly as these dicks, then perhaps things should be a little more interesting.

Channel surfing

"...catches the ball at the 20, makes his way to the 30, the 40, BOOM!!! IED and that's a fumble ladies and gentlemen!"

click.

"Jethro driving the Brawny Paper Towel car, number 57, takes the lead, this could be a great finish--BOOOOOOM! VBIED!"

Or not.

If your idea is picked up they will make you the star and bring the cameras and sound stage to your playgroun. You see you are already being used as entertainment, the reason for a change in Presidency and definitely vice Presidency (ever wonder why that guy doesn't work on the vice more and Presidency less?). You just need the sponsorship banners and colors, the blondes with the champagne when you win the race to the finish -- oh, no finish in sight is there? the management hasn't set that final lap. We won't see your name as the technical expert or writer in the credits either. So like American professional Soccer, if you can't get commercial endorsments and time outs you just aren't going to be paid big bucks for steroid use and slamming those balls out of the park. I hear the French Foreign Legion pays better, quicker to retirement and get wine with their rations - probably just a rumor. Truth is they know you don't do their wars for money, you do it because it is what you are becoming just a warrior, a writing warrior but just a warrior. For me I kind of have finally accepted it, not going to be making any romantic movies what I do best is kill people and break things, and they don't need me to do that anymore, you are doing it so much better than I could. Take care out there.

The usual argument for why entertainers get paid so much is because they tend to have a short career and may have to support themselves and their families on just a few years worth of income. Well, there's way too many soldiers having their careers cut short too. You know that, I know that, and a lot of the folks here know that. Your blog should be mandatory reading for most US citizens, as quite a few need to be reminded of that fact.
While we're rearanging pay scales, can I suggest that folks like educators, law enforcement, and most blue collar workers get paid a lot more too? The people who work harder (and your workload puts ours to shame) really should be paid better that the people who play games and sing.

If this was supposed to be an argument for why you're insane, I think it backfired. You're more sane than a lot of folks I've ever listened to.

Don't let it get you down. Society has chosen to be distracted from the reality of life. Society rewards those who distract them handsomely. But most who have served mankind know who the real people are.

There are certain "celebs" I would like to see meet up with an IED...I don't think that makes me "deeply disturbed and highly twisted", and neither are you!

I completely agree with red...we pay our teachers meager salaries to be role models and educate children, but lindsay lohan and the rest of the brat pack get paid millions of dollars to get DUIs and make nude videos. and who do young girls look up to? pretty gross...

once again ryan, you make me think beyond my own little world and look at the big picture.

you pretty much rock, i'm not gonna lie... =)

You couldn't be MORE RIGHT. We as a public need to think about WHO we spend our money on. If we don't buy the movie and sports tickets, or the crappy CDs (who the HELL bought Britney's new CD??), they don't get paid. It's been so long since I've seen a movie...

It probably says a lot about me that I thought the sports bits were real for a minute.

Truly, you aren't the only unhinged being in the group.

Then again, there are some teachers who get paid TOO much. Met a 1st grade teacher once who fell asleep in the classroom~ just biding time until she retired. I think money should be based upon performance. Unless it's you. We'd all be broke trying to cover your salary every month!
    Luv ya!
